Afternoon Saints!

I hope you all are settling into your well deserved weekend.  Now that I have your attention, we need all hands on deck for Judicial Screenings across Northern Virginia.  Fairfax Circuit, Fairfax General District Court, Alexandria Circuit, Alexandria Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court, and Arlington General District Court are all interviewing judicial candidates for vacancies within those courts.  Several NOVABAA members have put their names in for consideration across these vacancies.  

Judicial Screenings are perhaps the most important service that NOVABAA performs in our legal community.  It's critical that we remain engaged in this process moving forward.  I anticipate upwards of 30 candidates across the four courts that may need to be interviewed.  Though, the exact numbers I have no idea an out.  Fairfax is the only Bar to publish the list of applicants, and they have 15 candidates alone between their openings.  Everything in addition to that is just rumor and speculation.  

Regardless, we need to be prepared to interview these candidates.  Given that things are still fluid, and we don't quite know precisely when the various judicial delegations are going to need these recommendations, we won't have specific interview dates for a mother couple of days.  Additionally, we are hopeful that APABA and/or HbA will join us in interviewing candidates - so there are a lot of logistical matters that need to be ironed out.

At this point, the ONLY thing NOVABAA is asking you to do is to RSVP if you are interested in participating on a judicial screening panel when we convene them.  Whether you are available at the interview times is a whole other challenge.  But we do need to know how many interested Saints are out there who are willing to assist in doing the Lord's work.  If you are willing and able to serve, even if it's for one court, and not another (whether due to conflict or any other reason) please RSVP and we will follow up with you for details.
